A perfect place on the Island

About the Area — “Hills and Harbors”

On a day spent touring the Island’s scenic southeast, you will discover neat-as-a-pin fishing villages and dramatic vistas from some of the Island’s highest elevations. Follow a route along the TransCanada Highway and down charming Heritage Roads, stopping in at craft shops, a historic village or for afternoon tea.

The loop begins at Wood Islands:
  • Eagles View Golf Course is 3 minutes from Percy Hill: This scenic and challenging 3360-yd. golf course takes the golfer over a rolling landscape with holes located on both sides of MacLure's Pond. A 300-metre bridge connects the holes and offers the golfer a panoramic view of the Island's largest fresh-water pond.
  • The Rossignol Estate Winery is scenically located along the shores of Little Sands
  • Charming villages like Guernsey Cove, Beach Point, Murray Harbour are classics you will want to capture on film
  • Be daring and follow any of the red clay roads that wind through Iris and the hills of Caledonia; who knows what you may find.
  • Hook a trout for supper at Ben's Lake sport fishing in Bellevue
  • Some of the Island's best white sand beaches may be found at Poverty Beach and Panmure Island
  • The lively centre of Montague has everything you need; excellent dining, shopping and even a marina with boat tours
  • A full-service family resort and championship golf course are located at Brudenell and the historic town of Georgetown offers live theatre
  • Both Orwell Corner Historic Village and Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead have busy activity schedules. Sign up for a workshop or join a ceilidh.
  • A bustling family activity centre makes Lord Selkirk Provincial Park a favourite and the nine-hole Highland Greens offers affordable golf with a first-class view
  • The Point Prim Lighthouse is the only round brick lighthouse in Canada.
